Top Gear for the USA??

I just came across the new trailer for the proposed new Top Gear (America) that will be shown on the History Channel this coming fall. While I very much so anticipate the show, and hope it will be able to deliver the same as the british version does, I also feel as though I know it never will. Follow the jump for the trailer and more. Read More »

Am I “man” enough?

Im thinking of starting a different sleep cycle for myself.  There are a number of people out there who sleep a whole lot less than the rest of the world. They are known as Poly Phasers, or those who sleep with a polyphasic sleep cycle.  Now, there are a couple of different types of polyphasic sleepers.  There are those who use the “uberman” pattern, and those who use the “everyman” pattern.  Let’s take a look at the two main styles of the polyphasic sleeper.

Tis the Season…

Tis the season… for snowmobiling! For all of this winter there has been a minimal amount of snow, and for Michigan, that is quite rare. For an area that averages about 40 inches a year, we have only gotten a few inches, much less than 10, maybe even less than 5. But the snowmobile ancestors have been appeased. What does that mean?

Getting into the spirit

Getting into the winter spirit is always a catch 22 for me.  I love the snow and being able to go snowmobiling and enjoying the outdoors (a topic of which I will go into further in a following post).  But events leading up to said activities almost always end up driving me mad.  The holidays just before, as well as during and some right after are what makes the time such a drain for me.  I was raised in a house and family that, up until my generation, has been gung-ho about holiday and the decorations involved. The main offenders that I will refer to are Thanksgiving and Christmas, but Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s both have their annoying qualities.  Come, let’s take a walk down the twisted path that leads to the soul rending story of my youth. Making time.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve put anything on here, which seems to be par for the course with me lately. But things have been very busy lately and I’ve not had much time to stop and think or write anything out. This is a post from the new WordPress 2 iPhone app and I’m just putting it through it’s paces and making sure it all works right. So far I am very pleased with it. It is very responsive and doesn’t cause any noticable lag while my thumbs fly around typing out my random thoughts. It also has the landscape keyboard orientation, which I don’t remember if the old app did or not, but I’m glad that this one does for sure.

About That Time Again

Well it’s been a while since I’ve put anything on here, and that would be because of my wonderful new addition! She has been a handful but worth every minute of it. When she looks up at you just after changing a particularly dirty diaper and just blinks those blue eyes and flashes her big gummy grin at you, everything that has been making your day rough seems to float away.

Along the same lines of reasons I haven’t been posting much, is that our family has just embarked and are almost finished with our big move from Lansing down to our new house that is out in the sticks. So between all the moving hassles and now the we are so far out in the middle of nowhere, it took me a while to get Internet (that I’m not completely happy with) and add that to new baby and you get not much time for ol Benny to be getting online and making posts. So that’s my update for now, and if time and baby permit I will have more in the near future.

Tiny People!

Audra

My how the days have flown past!  It’s only been a short while since I last posted and yet in that short time I have become a father!  My daughter was born on Saturday September 26th at 12:40 pm.  Her name is Audra Sue and she is my pride and joy.  Both Savannah and I have been very busy with her since she was brought into the world, and it hasn’t been the easiest, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.  For the next I don’t know how long I will be kept on my toes and out of sleep so there will probably be another lag in my posts after this one.

Bad-morning wake up

Yesterday in the wee hours of the morning I was brought to a groggy awakened state as I heard some sounds outside my apartment.  There were 2 odd thunk sounds followed by the shatter and tinkling of glass. Oh joy. Someone just had their day ruined. Might as well check and make sure everything is ok out there. Alright, I see her car…mine is a little farther out and there is a glare on my window. I guess I will go into the other room so I can make sure things are good with mine. Out there I can’t really see anything..but then all of a sudden..I see my cars interior lights turn on. My car was locked. My cars window has just been broken out as someone pillages my things. Great. Luckily my neighbor runs out and scares off the would be car thief and nothing is taken. Thank you little Mexican boy, for making my day shine.

In case you noticed.

In case any of you actually happened to notice that a slew of posts that started with “Today’s Twitter Thoughts” have disappeared, fear not, as I did that.  It ended up just being a spam on my blog and so I turned them off and got rid of that plugin. If I have anything relevant from Twitter, I will manually post it myself from here on out.
